Job summary

Six Flags Great America & Hurricane Harbor is hiring Ride Operators to ensure guests have a fun and safe experience on a wide variety of rides. You will greet guests, answer questions, enforce safety rules, and monitor riders during operation.

The role requires passing training such as iROC and ride certification, standing for long periods, outdoor work in varying weather, and working weekends/holidays. Join a team dedicated to guest satisfaction and safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16.
• Flexible availability including weekends, weeknights, and holidays.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (reading, speaking, understanding).
• Stand/walk for up to 5 hours at a time, up to 16 hours a day.
• Walk up to 5 miles per day on varied surfaces.
• Capable of holding a handheld scanner for 6 continuous hours.
• Possible exposure to heights, spinning objects or moving water.
• Willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Professional, self-motivated, multi-tasking and enthusiastic.
• Strong teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Attend required Rides Department training and ride-specific training.
• Adhere to Six Flags appearance and attendance standards.
• Provide courteous greetings and answer guest questions; respond to guest comments.
• Ensure guest safety and satisfaction during visits.
• Enforce rider restrictions including height requirements.
• Assist with pairing single riders and optimization of ride capacity.
• Take hourly throughput readings.
• Respond to emergencies and maintain control until a supervisor arrives.
• Monitor line jumping and smoking policies.
• Clean ride units and surrounding areas as needed.
• Assist with downtime, evacuations, and restart if necessary.
• Communicate proper hand signals and PA announcements during operation.
• Operate ride controls and be prepared to stop the ride in critical situations.
• Validate Fast Lane wristbands and manage ride merges.
• Complete iROC certification and ride certification tests.
• Report unsafe acts to supervisors.
• Maintain cleanliness of ride area.
