Job summary

The Salvation Army thrift store in Newton, IA is hiring a Store Associate to maintain shelves, price items, process merchandise, and provide friendly customer service. High School diploma or GED is preferred; retail experience is a plus but not required. Must pass background checks; on-site work in a retail environment with physical activity

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; retail or POS experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain accuracy.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with store systems.

Responsibilities

• Keep shelves full and organized to promote sales.
• Assist management team to investigate and properly price items to be sold, as needed.
• Process all merchandise efficiently and properly following established standards.
• Stock racks, shelves, counters or tables with merchandise daily.
• Learn and train on the processing system, including cash register / POS.
• Maintain a clean environment throughout the store, including shelves and counters.
• Wrap and bag merchandise for customers when needed.
• Provide good customer service by being polite, prompt and courteous.
• All other duties as assigned.
