Job summary

The Salvation Army Otay Thrift Store in San Diego seeks a part-time Sales Associate /Material Handler to welcome customers and donors, stock merchandise, and keep the store tidy while supporting donation operations.

You will handle POS transactions, follow policies, maintain safety, and participate in monthly meetings. Prior retail experience and ability to lift up to 50 lbs are helpful.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability to operate POS/cash register and handle cash transactions accurately.
• Must pass background check, including Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry.
• Effective communication with management, staff, customers and donors.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and donors and provide prompt, courteous assistance.
• Stock items on the sales floor and prepare them for display.
• Maintain store and donation area cleanliness and organization; perform cleaning duties.
• Follow POS/Cash Register policies and TSA procedures.
• Maintain safety and compliance standards.
• Attend monthly store meetings.
• Receive, unload, and stock incoming inventory accurately.
• Inspect products for defects and damages.
• Assist donor in removing items from vehicle and provide receipts.
• Sort donated material into proper containers and stack as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
