Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a part-time Sales Associate/Material Handler for the College Store in SD. The role involves greeting customers and donors, handling POS transactions, stocking merchandise, and processing donations in a fast-paced thrift store environment.

Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness, following safety and HR policies, and supporting store operations with flexible scheduling including weekends and holidays. Background checks are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to operate POS/Cash Register.
• Must pass background check, including Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, fellow store employees, customers and donors.

Responsibilities

• Greet Customers and Donors and provide prompt, courteous assistance.
• Stock priced items for sale on the floor per Salvation Army standards.
• Sort donations for processing per Salvation Army standards.
• Maintain store cleanliness and organization; perform assigned cleaning duties.
• Follow POS/Cash Register policies and procedures.
• Maintain safety standards and report hazards to managers.
• Follow HR policies and attend monthly store meetings.
• Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, and holidays to ensure store coverage.
• Receive, unload, and stock incoming inventory accurately.
• Provide QA by inspecting products for defects.
• Assist in donation trailer/pod area cleanup at start/end of shift.
• Assist donors in removing items and provide receipts.
