Job summary

The Salvation Army Grand Rapids Thrift Store in Grand Rapids, MN is seeking a Thrift Store Assistant Manager to support daily operations, assist with customer service and staff coordination, and help drive merchandising efforts. Salary ranges from $17.60 to $19.15 per hour for a 40-hour week, Tuesday through Saturday.

On-site role at 20734 US Highway 169, Grand Rapids, MN 55744. Responsibilities include store operations, inventory, customer service, promotions, and community engagement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ years retail experience, preferably nonprofit or thrift store setting.
• Must pass background checks, possess a valid driver’s license, and meet MVR requirements.
• Flexible interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• High level of initiative and self-motivation.
• Ability to problem-solve, multi-task, and prioritize.

Responsibilities

• Store Operations Support (35%): Assist with daily store operations, opening/closing, basic cash handling, and staff supervision support.
• Inventory & Merchandising Assistance (25%): Oversee sorting, pricing, and display of donated items; ensure rotations and clean displays.
• Customer Service (15%): Provide excellent customer service, answer questions, resolve minor complaints, maintain welcoming environment.
• Sales Floor Support (10%): Assist with promotions and merchandising plans; maintain attractive displays.
• Facility Upkeep (10%): Maintain clean, safe store; report issues to Store Manager.
• Donor & Community Interaction (5%): Greet donors and support community engagement efforts.
