Job summary

Blue Ridge Humane in Hendersonville, NC, is seeking a Store Associate – Donation Intake to assist the Thrift Store Manager with daily operations and donor interactions. The role supports volunteers, manages donation flow, prices items, maintains a safe shop atmosphere, and requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors.

Starting pay is $17.00–$18.75 per hour, based on experience. The successful candidate will be collaborative and reliable, engaging with the public, donors and staff

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred.
• Ability to utilize dollies and other moving equipment.
• Must share Blue Ridge Humane Society’s commitment to animals.
• Highly motivated and self-directed.
• Ability to work with a diverse population and establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with the public, donors, volunteers, staff, and management in a respectful and courteous manner.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers professionally.
• Assist in setting up the donation tables in the morning before opening.
• Set up the outdoor sales area prior to the store opening and move heavy furniture if needed.
• Price outdoor items using designated pricing supplies.
• Communicate with customers, staff and volunteers.
• Direct donors to alternate organizations for non-accepted items.
• Sort donated items to ensure suitability for sale.
• Facilitate donation receipt requests.
• Dispose of store trash and recycling.
• Assist with lifting/moving heavy items and during pickups.
• Complete all other duties as assigned.
