Job summary

Blue Ridge Humane Society is seeking a Store Associate – Donation Intake for its Thrift Store in Hendersonville, NC. You will assist with daily operations, greet customers, manage donation flow, and support volunteers while ensuring a safe, welcoming shopping environment.

Starting pay $17.00–$18.75 per hour, full-time, 40 hours/week, with a schedule Tue–Sat. Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 lbs, work outdoors in varying weather, and pass background and DMV checks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred; willingness to learn and support a thrift store team.
• Ability to use moving equipment (dollies) and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Commitment to animals and the Blue Ridge Humane Society's mission.
• Self-motivated, organized, and able to work with a diverse public and volunteers.
• Good judgment when handling donations, customers, and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers in a friendly, professional manner.
• Assist with setting up donation areas and outdoor sales prep before opening.
• Price outdoor items using designated pricing supplies and maintain order.
• Communicate with customers, staff, and volunteers; support volunteer coordination.
• Ensure a safe, clean, and secure work environment; monitor for hazards and theft.
• Assist with donation receipts, item screening, and directing donors to alternative organizations if needed.
• Handle heavy items and assist with scheduled pickups as required.
• Complete other duties as assigned by the Thrift Store Manager.
