Job summary
NOVA Engineering & Environmental is seeking an experienced Threshold Engineer / Special Inspector in Tallahassee or Panama City Beach, FL to support Florida operations. Ideal candidate is a Florida-licensed PE with strong structural construction experience, capable of field involvement, technical leadership, project oversight, and client interaction.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Current and active Florida PE license in good standing.
- Principal professional practice in structural engineering and/or structural field inspection of threshold buildings, consistent with Florida qualification requirements.
- Demonstrated experience with structural construction and inspection of commercial, institutional, residential, or other large-scale building projects.
- Strong working knowledge of structural systems including: Reinforced concrete, Post-tensioned concrete, Structural masonry, Structural steel, Shallow and deep foundations, Precast construction.
- Working knowledge of the Florida Building Code and applicable threshold/special inspection requirements.
- Ability to interpret structural drawings, specifications, shop drawings, RFIs, and inspection plans.
- Strong technical writing, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively oversee and provide technical direction to inspection personnel.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the licensed Special Inspector of Threshold Buildings for assigned projects throughout Florida.
- Review structural drawings, specifications, approved submittals, RFI responses, and Special Inspection Plans prior to and during construction.
- Perform periodic site visits to verify construction is proceeding per plans and inspection plan.
- Provide technical oversight of SIARs performing field inspections.
- Review qualifications and experience of SIARs and confirm they are qualified for their activities.
- Review field inspection reports for accuracy, completeness, discrepancies, and compliance with requirements.
