Rackspace Technology in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Data Center Operations Technician responsible for IT infrastructure, ensuring customer environments are secure, online, and maintaining 99.999% uptime.

Onsite in Buffalo with a 3rd shift, you will monitor tickets, perform OS/storage tasks, and support hardware, networking, and storage systems across Windows, Linux, and VMware environments.

Qualifications

• Must be a US Citizen.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 2 years' experience working in a data center environment.
• Able to build, repair or upgrade hardware components.
• Strong understanding of storage RAID configurations and requirements.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. overhead

Responsibilities

• Monitor and prioritize an internal ticketing system to provide customer support.
• Provide storage troubleshooting and upgrades, plus hardware troubleshooting and RAID configuration changes.
• Provide hardware support and upgrades for servers running Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu Linux or VMware ESX Server.
• Perform basic OS administration tasks including network IP setup, OS installs (PXE), firmware updates and basic troubleshooting.
• Install or remove fiber or copper cabling and test connectivity with existing cabling.
• Install network devices such as switches, firewalls, load-balancers and security appliances.
• Install storage hardware on DAS and NAS arrays and complete cabling needs for cabinets.
• Complete customer maintenance requests including hardware modifications and OS installations.

Job Summary

The Data Center Operations Technician owns the responsibility of all IT Infrastructure, including customer configurations, within the data center environment ensuring all customer server environments are secure, operational and maintain 99.999% uptime.

Work Location/Shift: Onsite Buffalo, NY - USA Shift: 3rd

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for monitoring and prioritizing an internal ticketing system to provide customer support.
• Provide basic operating system storage troubleshooting, along with storage upgrades, hardware troubleshooting and Raid configuration changes.
• Provide hardware support and upgrades for servers running Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Server, Ubuntu Linux or VMWare ESX Server.
• Simple operating systems administration can include setting up OS network IP's, fresh OS installs (using PXE), Firmware updates and basic OS troubleshooting.
• Installation or removal of fiber or copper cabling.
• Along with Layer 1 network skills, that will include testing, as well as connectivity issues with previously deployed copper or fiber cabling.
• Installation of network device hardware including switches, firewalls, load-balancers and security appliances.
• Installation of hardware on storage devices including DAS and NAS arrays.
• Complete customer maintenances requests that include hardware modification, operating system installation, mounting of the devices within cabinets and completion of all cabling needs to be required.

Compensation

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several geographic markets.

The compensation range for this position ranges from $57,371.00/year in our lowest geographic market up to $76,529.00/year in our highest geographic market.

Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
