Job summary

Rackspace Technology, a leader in multicloud solutions, seeks a Data Center Operations Technician to own IT infrastructure within the data center, ensuring customer environments are secure, operational, and achieving high uptime. Based onsite in Buffalo, NY, this role emphasizes hardware and OS support across Windows and Linux systems.

You will manage hardware upgrades, RAID configurations, and network cabling while collaborating with teams to deliver reliable, scalable services.

Qualifications

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 2+ years’ experience in a data center environment.
  • Able to build, repair or upgrade hardware components.
  • Strong understanding of storage RAID configurations and requirements.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. overhead.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and prioritize an internal ticketing system to provide customer support.
  • Provide basic OS storage troubleshooting and storage upgrades.
  • Perform hardware troubleshooting and RAID configuration changes.
  • Support servers running Windows Server, RHEL, Ubuntu, or VMware ESXi.
  • Install or remove fiber or copper cabling and perform basic network testing.

Job description

Job Summary: The Data Center Operations Technician owns the responsibility of all IT Infrastructure, including customer configurations, within the data center environment ensuring all customer server environments are secure, operational and maintain 99.999% uptime.

Work Location/Shift: Onsite Buffalo, NY – USA Shift: 1st

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for monitoring and prioritizing an internal ticketing system to provide customer support. Provide basic operating system storage troubleshooting, along with storage upgrades, hardware troubleshooting and Raid configuration changes. Provide hardware support and upgrades for servers running Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Server, Ubuntu Linux or VMWare ESX Server. Simple operating systems administration can include, setting up OS network IP’s, fresh OS installs (using PXE), Firmware updates and basic OS troubleshooting. Installation or removal of fiber or copper cabling. Along with Layer 1 network skills, that will include testing, as well as connectivity issues with previously deployed copper or fiber cabling. Installation of network device hardware including switches, firewalls, load-balancers and security appliances. Installation of hardware on storage devices including DAS and NAS arrays Complete customer maintenances requests that include hardware modification, operating system installation, mounting of the devices within cabinets and completion of all cabling needs to be required.

Qualifications

Must be a US Citizen. High School Diploma or equivalent is required. 2-years’ experience working in a data center environment. Able to build, repair or upgrade hardware components. Strong understanding of storage RAID configurations and requirements. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. overhead.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several geographic markets. The compensation range for this position ranges from $52,942.00/year in our lowest geographic market up to $70,555.00/year in our highest geographic market.

Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
