Job summary

Fairwater is seeking a Third Mate - ATBs to join a dynamic maritime operations team. The role requires offshore credentials, experience with ATB or tug barges, and the ability to travel internationally as needed.

You will support deck and engineering tasks, coordinate cargo and ballast operations, and ensure compliance with maritime regulations. Strong English communication is essential for safe, efficient performance.

Qualifications

• Mate 1600 Gross Tons Oceans and valid STCW with required endorsements.
• TOAR preferred or Mate of Towing Vessels.
• ECDIS and Radar certificates are current.
• First Aid/CPR certification is present.
• TWIC and Passport valid; international travel possible.
• Experience with ATB or conventional tug barges is preferred.
• Knowledge of cargo transfer, ballast operations, and regulations.
• English language is required for operations.

Responsibilities

• Support deck and engineering operations on ATB/ocean service.
• Manage cargo transfer, ballast operations, and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with crew on safety and shipboard procedures.

Location

East Coast, Gulf, West Coast and Alaska

Required Qualifications

• Mate 1600 Gross Tons Oceans
• Mate of Towing Vessels or completed TOAR (preferred)
• Current ECDIS and Radar certificates
• First Aid/CPR
• Valid STCW with all required endorsements (including, but not limited to: OICNW, GMDSS, and Advanced Firefighting)
• TWIC
• Valid Passport – must be able to travel internationally.
• PIC Barge (DL) Experience
• Familiarity with ATB or conventional tug barge
• Familiarity with Multi-grade and/or Chemical cargo transfer experience
• Familiarity with all aspects of cargo and ballast operations and regulations
• Candidate will be required to show competence in supporting deck and engineering operations
• Languages English
