Job summary

Metallus in Canton, OH invites students to join its Summer 2027 internship program, gaining hands-on experience in industrial mechanical and electrical systems within production environments.

You will work with maintenance, operations and engineering teams, participate in budgeting considerations and project planning, and develop professional communication skills.

Minimum GPA 2.5, 30 credits by Spring 2027, full-time student, majors Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
• Must have completed 30 or more credit hours by the end of the Spring 2027 semester.
• Must be a full-time student attending an accredited two-year or four-year college/university.
• Preferred majors: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related.

Responsibilities

• Develop a practical understanding of industrial mechanical and electrical systems, including drawings, schematics, and OEM documentation.
• Apply engineering problem solving to real equipment, maintenance, and reliability challenges in a production environment.
• Understand how maintenance and engineering decisions impact safety, cost, uptime, and production performance.
• Gain exposure to business and management fundamentals, including budgeting considerations, project planning, and resource prioritization.
• Learn how cross functional teams (maintenance, operations, engineering, leadership) collaborate to achieve business goals.
• Build professional communication skills and confidence transitioning from academic theory to real world industrial and business applications.
