Job summary

Nikon SLM Solutions is seeking a senior engineer to shape the thermal management architecture for LPBF machines. You will collaborate with global teams to design efficient cooling systems, perform simulations, and develop P&IDs while aligning with V-model testing and manufacturing constraints.

The role requires a strong background in thermal management, a master's degree in engineering or physics, and hands-on experience with CFD tools and liquid cooling. On-site in California, Long Beach area.

Qualifications

Minimum 5+ years in thermal management.
Master's degree or equivalent in engineering or physics.
Understanding of Systems Engineering principles.
Experience with liquid cooling and cooling loop chemistry is favorable.
Experience with 1D and 3D CFD simulations and lab testing.
Strong project management and independent work style.

Responsibilities

Interrogate design solutions with Systems, Mechanical Design, and Manufacturing Engineers to ensure robust, cost-effective solutions.
Perform thermal calculations and 1D/3D simulations.
Develop thermal architectures and create P&IDs.
Select and specify all relevant thermal management components.
Coordinate and support engineering change, design, and design review activities.
Plan and execute testing activities in accordance with the V-model.
Collaborate with Manufacturing, Suppliers, and Supply Chain.
Establish and maintain best practices, standards, and design guidelines.
