Job summary

O'Neal Steel is hiring a Machine Operator for the 1st shift (4:00AM – 12:00PM) at our Birmingham, AL facility. You will set up and operate thermal processing equipment, read blueprints, use precision measuring tools, and ensure high-quality output for internal and external customers.

The role requires safety adherence, ability to operate forklifts and cranes, and overtime as needed. Background check and drug test are required upon offer.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate thermal processing equipment (plasma, laser, etc.).
• Ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift, overhead crane, stacker crane, side loader, yard dog).
• Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints.
• Ability to use measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, micrometer).
• Ability to convert fractions to decimals and vice versa.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety guidelines and wear required PPE.
• Set up and operate thermal processing equipment (plasma, laser, etc.).
• Operate material handling equipment (forklift, cranes, stacker crane, etc.).
• Read and interpret blueprints and follow work instructions.
• Use measuring tools (tape measure, caliper, micrometer).
• Convert fractions to decimals and vice versa, and perform basic arithmetic.
• Provide high-quality work to internal and external customers.
