Job summary

O'Neal Industries seeks a 1st Shift Machine Operator (thermal) at our Birmingham, AL facility to set up and run thermal processing equipment, interpreting blueprints, and ensuring quality output.

You will measure with calipers and micrometers and operate forklifts and cranes as needed, with safety as a priority and overtime as required on the 1st shift.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate thermal processing equipment including plasmas and lasers.
• Ability to operate a wide variety of material handling equipment including forklift, overhead crane, stacker crane, side loader, yard dog, etc.
• Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints.
• Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measure, box caliper, dial caliper, and micrometer.
• Ability to convert fractions to decimals and vice versa, add and subtract in fractions and decimals.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety guidelines and wear all required PPE.
• Set up and operate a variety of thermal processing equipment (plasma, laser, etc.).
• Operate material handling equipment including forklift, cranes, stackers.
• Read and interpret blueprints and follow work instructions.

Description

O'Neal Steel currently has an opening for a (1st Shift) Machine Operator (thermal) at our Birmingham, AL facility.

The Machine Operator sets up and operates thermal processing equipment in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Thermal processing equipment is defined as any machine that uses thermal energy (heat) to cut, form, shape or otherwise process stock material. These machines include but are not limited to plasmas, lasers, etc. Uses computer-controlled equipment to select, position and secure automatic or semi-automatic machines. Controls and adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion.

What you will be doing:

• Following all safety guidelines and wearing all required personal protective equipment.
• Set up and operate a variety of thermal processing equipment; plasma, laser, etc.
• Operate a wide variety of material handling equipment, forklift, overhead crane, stacker crane, side loader, yard dog, etc.
• Read and interpret blueprints and following work instructions.
• Use measuring tools such as tape measure, box caliper, slide dial caliper, and micrometer.
• Convert fractions to decimals and vice versa, add and subtract fractions and decimals.
• Provide high quality work to all internal and external customers as related to the output of their position.

Must be able to work 1st Shift (4:00AM - 12:00PM) Monday-Friday. Overtime will be required as needed.
