You will measure with calipers and micrometers and operate forklifts and cranes as needed, with safety as a priority and overtime as required on the 1st shift.

O'Neal Steel currently has an opening for a (1st Shift) Machine Operator (thermal) at our Birmingham, AL facility.
The Machine Operator sets up and operates thermal processing equipment in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Thermal processing equipment is defined as any machine that uses thermal energy (heat) to cut, form, shape or otherwise process stock material. These machines include but are not limited to plasmas, lasers, etc. Uses computer-controlled equipment to select, position and secure automatic or semi-automatic machines. Controls and adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion.
What you will be doing:
Must be able to work 1st Shift (4:00AM - 12:00PM) Monday-Friday. Overtime will be required as needed.

Ability to operate a variety of thermal processing equipment including, but not limited to, plasmas, lasers, etc.
Ability to operate a wide variety of material handling equipment including, but not limited to, forklift, overhead crane, stacker crane, side loader, yard dog, etc.
Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints.
Ability to use measuring tools such as: tape measure, box caliper, slide dial caliper, and micrometer.
Ability to convert fractions to decimals and vice versa, add and subtract in fractions and decimals.
Responsible for providing high quality work to all internal and external customers as related to the output of their position.
Ability to operate a variety of non-thermal processing equipment including, but not limited to, saws, shears, press brakes, rollers, and digi-benders.
