Xcel Energy, a Fortune 500 energy provider, seeks a Generation Development Project Manager to lead end-to-end thermal power projects from origination to regulatory approvals. You will oversee scope, schedule, cost, and resources, coordinating across multiple teams to meet safety, regulatory, and operational goals.

Roles span PM I–III with strong emphasis on leadership, budgeting, vendor management, and cross-functional collaboration in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years work experience in operations, technology, finance, or comparable function; utility experience preferred.
• BS Engineering, Construction, Business, Information Technology or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 3-5 years' experience in project management and process improvement; some formal project management training preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and influence others.
• Strong presentation and facilitation skills; excellent written/verbal communications skills required.
• Understanding of core business processes/ industry trends with ability to understand/apply ongoing changes.
• Knowledge of project planning and business need justification process and methodology
• Ability to adapt to change quickly and work within a diverse, cross-functional team environment
• Vendor/contract management experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Project Planning: identify options, develop business cases, secure approvals.
• Lead requirements gathering and planning with key stakeholders.
• Define deliverables, milestones, schedules and budgets.
• Project Management: deliver benefits, manage plans, track progress and risks.
• Financial Management: budgeting, forecasting, actuals, RFPs and contracts.
• Resource Management: forecast, schedule, manage resources and vendors.
• Scope & Risk Management: manage scope changes and risks.
• Relationship Management: communicate status up to senior leaders.
