Job summary

Corning Incorporated is hiring a Project Engineer - Thermal Equipment Design in Corning, NY. This full-time onsite role involves leading the design, specification, installation and commissioning of thermal equipment across melting, forming, and heat-treating processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of professional engineering experience delivering equipment projects in manufacturing.
• Experience with batch houses, melting, furnaces, ovens, kilns, lehrs, dryers, or heat-treating systems.
• Experience working with equipment vendors or OEMs to develop specifications, evaluate proposals, and support procurement.
• Experience reviewing and interpreting mechanical drawings, equipment specifications, layouts, P&IDs, and 3D models.
• Availability for significant domestic travel; international travel could be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead thermal equipment engineering projects from concept through commissioning.
• Communicate requirements to vendors and evaluate proposals.
• Manage budgets and notify leadership of spending concerns.
• Lead cross-functional teams to deliver new processes and products.
• Monitor multiple workstreams to ensure on-time project completion.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation for equipment design and project execution.
• Coordinate with leadership and manufacturing teams across locations to meet objectives.
