Job summary

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector in Baltimore, MD invites applications for a Thermal Design and Analysis Engineer – Level 2. The role focuses on designing, analyzing, and testing space hardware from components to assemblies, supporting from concept through integration and test.

The position emphasizes collaboration with senior staff, hands-on thermal analyses, and developing comprehensive test plans while working a 9/80 schedule onsite in Linthicum, MD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 2 years of professional experience or Master’s degree with 0 years.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret clearance with SCI access.
• Onsite work daily at the Linthicum, MD facility.
• Working knowledge of thermal analysis software (IcePak, Sinda/Fluint, Thermal Desktop) or similar.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with senior thermal analysis staff to learn internal processes and practices.
• Perform steady state and transient thermal analyses of components, hardware, and assembly designs.
• Create system level and subassembly thermal models.
• Understand mechanical requirements and environments of space program hardware.
• Prepare material and present at internal program reviews and technical meetings.
• Provide guidance to programs and mentor junior engineers.
• Maintain diverse workload and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Support design verification and test planning, troubleshoot issues, and execute thermal tests.
