Job summary

Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group in Las Vegas, NV is seeking a Therapist for the Performance Medicine team. You will provide rehabilitation services to high-performance artists, adhere to professional practice, and support injury prevention and recovery under pressure with a flexible schedule.

The role reports to the Artistic Manager and Senior Advisor – Performance Medicine and requires a university degree in Athletic Training or Physical Therapy, 5+ years musculoskeletal clinical

Qualifications

• University degree in Athletic Training or Physical Therapy and active licensure in Nevada.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant musculoskeletal clinical experience.
• Current First Aid and Trauma Management certificate from a CdS recognised body.
• Fluency in English and ability to work with performing artists.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality rehabilitation care to Cirque du Soleil artists with confidentiality.
• Provide emergency response care in a safe, professional manner.
• Collaborate with Coaches and Artistic team to implement injury reduction programs.
• Document all medical interactions and ensure medico-legal compliance.
• Accompany artists to medical appointments when indicated and participate in consultations.
• Maintain First Aid and Trauma Management readiness and participate in ongoing professional development.
• Coordinate with show leadership to address insurance and worker's compensation needs.

Reporting to the Artistic Manager and Senior Advisor – Performance medicine, you will be directly responsible to:

Clinical

• Ensure that all relevant medical care, prevention, rehabilitation, and health care administration is being delivered to the highest possible standard of care and confidentiality, while relevant to the functional demand of our artists and environment
• Deliver emergency response care in a safe and professional manner;
• Achieve and maintain an appropriate CdS approved First aid and Trauma Management Certificate, to work as first responder and incident lead for training and in-show cover;
• Stimulate and foster close functional relationships with Coaches and other Artistic team members to establish and implement programs directed at the reduction of injury in an effort to achieve optimal performance, relevant to an artists’ specific needs;
• Make recommendations for psychological and nutritional referrals, when appropriate, for medical conditions;
• Ensure cost effective and timely referrals to appropriate medical providers for any relevant illness or injury.
• Collaborate with the Coaching Team to create moments of exchange for feedback and problem solving in regard to strength and conditioning, reintegration planning, and performance support.
• Ensure that all medical information, interactions and interventions are being documented and communicated as per medico-legal and CdS specific requirements including but not limited to C-fit and completion of necessary legal/insurance documents, while making sure artist-therapist confidentiality is being adhered to at all times;
• Ensure that artists are accompanied to medical appointments whenever indicated;
• Actively participate in medical consultations where appropriate.
• Collaborate with artistic team, and attend appropriate meetings etc., to ensure clear communication regarding PMED recommendations for artist functional restrictions;
• Maintain a direct link with the show’s appropriate representative regarding insurance and worker's compensation needs; ensuring all necessary information, forms and reports are communicated and delivered in a timely and organized manner.
• Implement appropriate Injury Risk Reduction strategies;

Operational

• Perform all relevant tasks inherent to the position of PMED Therapist in a professional, ethical manner and at the highest possible standard of care, in alignment with your professional licensure or CDS Standard, whichever is higher;
• Communicate with the Artistic Team regarding injury timelines to allow show to determine necessity for temporary replacements; provide recommendations for external care when appropriate;
• Collaborate with Team Leads to identify show specific injury trends for potential analysis and solutions;

General

• Adhere to the direction of, and timely communication with, the Team Lead and Senior Advisor;
• Create and foster interdependent relationships with the members of the artistic and coaching teams while being responsible for the active and professional contribution of the PMED department to functional decision-making processes (Human Performance Risk Management);
• Foster a positive, stimulating and ethical working environment for the PMED Department;
• Promptly convey all pertinent medical information to the Team Lead and Senior Advisor while actively participating in periodic meetings and reporting;
• Comply with all CDS Performance Medicine governance standards, Performance Medicine Standards of Professional Practice (SoPP) and audit requirements;
• Actively participate in continuing professional development opportunities, to remain an expert in therapy

Requirements Of The Post-holder

• University degree in Athletic Training or Physical Therapy along with an appropriately maintained and recognised professional registration in the State of Nevada;
• Minimum 5 years' relevant clinical musculoskeletal experience;
• Must be able to achieve and maintain a current valid First Aid and Trauma Management certificate issued by a CdS recognised body;
• Fluency in English
• Experience of working with Performing artists/Performance athletes and coaches in a professional environment is an asset
• Able to work in a culturally diverse environment;
• Able to quickly adapt to unexpected situations and work flexibly with a variable schedule whilst under pressure;
• Able to work at height or in confined spaces, including as Lead of Emergency Response Team
• If hired at "O", one must have the ability to pass a test;
• Verification of the right to work in the United States for Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, as demonstrated by completion of the Form I-9 upon hire Athletic and the submission of acceptable documentation (as noted on the Form I-9) verifying one’s identity and work authorization;
