Job summary

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare Infant Toddler Program is hiring licensed Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists to serve as Early Interventionists in Twin Falls and surrounding areas. Clinicians will blend pediatric therapy with caregiver coaching to support children ages 0–3 in natural environments.

Work includes eligibility assessments, data-driven intervention planning, and IFSP leadership within a hybrid model.

Qualifications

  • Licensure as an occupational therapist in Idaho or licensure as a speech-language pathologist as per Idaho codes; must be obtained prior to appointment.
  • A valid driver’s license; must be at least 21 years old and eligible to drive a state vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate eligibility assessments and provide therapies in the child’s natural environment (home or childcare).
  • Deliver services through a hybrid model of in-person visits and virtual sessions.
  • Use evidence-based coaching and caregiver coaching to support caregiver and child learning.
  • Coordinate with a multidisciplinary team and manage scheduling for evaluations and interventions.

Are you ready to empower families and change the trajectory of a child’s life? The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare Infant Toddler Program is seeking dedicated, licensed Physical Therapist (PT), Occupational Therapist (OT), and Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team as Early Interventionists. We are looking for clinicians who can blend specialized pediatric therapy with caregiver coaching to drive meaningful development for children ages 0–3. The Work: Facilitate eligibility assessments and provide therapeutic services in the child’s natural environment (home or childcare). The Method: Use evidence-based coaching and consultation to turn everyday routines into powerful learning opportunities. Flexibility: Deliver support through a hybrid of in‑person visits and virtual sessions. Resources: State vehicles are provided for all travel.

This position will be located in Twin Falls, Pocatello, Blackfoot and/or Burley.

The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is a drug‑free workplace.   • Evaluations & Strategy: Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations to determine eligibility and design data‑driven intervention plans.
  • IFSP Leadership: Lead the development, progress reviews, and transition planning for Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) in partnership with families.
  • Evidence‑Based Practice: Implement infant‑toddler intervention models to drive measurable functional development.
  • Caregiver Coaching: Facilitate routine‑based sessions in natural environments, using adult learning principles to coach caregivers and sustain child progress.
  • Primary Service Provider (PSP): Serve as the lead point of contact for assigned families, providing holistic support through a multidisciplinary team model.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Maintain rigorous documentation for all services and evaluations, ensuring 100% adherence to regulatory timelines.
  • Logistics & Coordination: Manage scheduling for evaluations and interventions, including the oversight of state vehicle usage and travel.
  • Collaboration: Exchange cross‑disciplinary expertise through active participation in team consultations and community partnerships.

You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. Licensure as an occupational therapist in Idaho in accordance with Idaho Code 54‑3703. Licensure or a limited permit must be obtained prior to appointment. OR Licensure as a speech‑language pathologist in accordance with Idaho Code 54‑2913 or Provisional Permit in accordance with Idaho Code 54‑2919.

A valid driver’s license. Must be at least 21 years of age and meet eligibility requirements to drive a state vehicle.
