Job summary

Clarion Psychiatric Center is recruiting a FULL TIME Therapist to join our Clinical Team. Provide therapy to individuals and/or groups relative to treatment issues and goals and serve as part of the treatment team. The role includes participation in hospital committees and assessing patient groups for chemical dependency needs.

Inpatient/outpatient psychiatric experience is preferred. The facility emphasizes teamwork within a hospital setting and offers comprehensive benefits and growth

Qualifications

• Masters Degree in Social Service field is required.
• Inpatient/outpatient psychiatric experience preferred.
• Knowledge of family dynamics, casework, interpersonal relationships and regional social policy.
• Knowledge of therapeutic relationships, therapeutic processes, growth and development, limit-setting and behaviour management, crisis management of aggressive behaviors, CPR training.
• Communication skills and ability to teach patients.

Responsibilities

Clarion Psychiatric Center offers inpatient treatment for adults with moderate to severe psychiatric problems, inpatient crisis stabilization for children and adolescents, and a Partial Hospitalization Program for school-aged children. Our recently expanded 112-bed inpatient program has 4 units. For over 30 years, Clarion has provided the community a compassionate and respectful therapeutic environment with an emphasis on strong teamwork.

General Working Environment

Hospital setting. Some risk involved in the event of the presence of an aggressive / violent patient. Works in a well lighted and ventilated setting, is subject to frequent interruptions, is involved with the patients and personnel throughout designated unit under varying conditions and circumstances. Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to HIV and Hepatitis B Viruses.

Physical Requirements

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and be able to walk and stand for long periods. Able to participate in crisis prevention intervention. The Physical Requirements described herein are representative of those, which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this job.
