Job summary

S:US is seeking a Program Coordinator to support a therapeutic horticulture service that enhances supports for individuals and families served. The role uses urban farming as a therapeutic tool, employment pathway, and means to advance personal and professional goals for participants.

The candidate will engage clients, supervise participants, and develop curricula while collaborating with leadership to deliver programming, with opportunities to contribute to special programs and annual events.

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree in horticulture, agriculture, nutrition, education or human services.
• At least 2 years of teaching, job or wellness coaching experience.
• At least 1 year of education/experience in agriculture, horticulture, gardening or landscaping.
• Interest in working with individuals with disabilities.
• Able to lift 40 pounds.
• Valid NYS driver’s license.
• 2 years of experience with individuals with disabilities (preferred).
• 2 years in agriculture/horticulture/gardening/landscaping (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Serves as a liaison to client support staff in identifying, assessing, and mentoring potential Urban Farms participants.
• Identifies goals for Urban Farms participants and matches goals to appropriate roles and activities.
• Provides direct supervision to Assistants and other participants, with hands‑on instruction and coaching.
• Develops schedules for Assistants and participants to support operational needs and development.
• Develops and offers group educational activities, workshops, and trainings with Director/Manager.
• Supports development of programming curricula and supervises activities when appropriate.
• Supports participation in farmers markets, assisting with staffing and logistics.
• Provides job coaching for Assistants at farmers markets.
• Collaborates on farm product development and entrepreneurial initiatives.
• Supports other S:US programs and events including Harvest Celebration.
• Maintains reporting protocols and participant metrics.

Education

4-year degree in horticulture, agriculture, nutrition, education, human services

Experience as a teacher, job or wellness coach

Interest in horticulture/agriculture (education, job, or volunteering)

Interest in working with individuals with disabilities

Able to lift 40 pounds

Valid NYS driver’s license

2 years working with individuals with disabilities

2 years in agriculture/horticulture/gardening/landscaping
