Job summary

Services for the UnderServed (S:US) seeks a Program Coordinator to support therapeutic horticulture services, youth and adult participants, and special programs. This role uses urban farming to promote personal and professional goals, and to provide an employment pathway within our urban farms initiative.

The position emphasizes client engagement, supervision of assistants, group workshops, and reporting with a collaborative team including the Director and Manager.

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree in a related field (such as horticulture, agriculture, nutrition, education, human services).
• Demonstrated education skills, with at least 2 years of experience as a teacher, job or wellness coach, or a similar position.
• Demonstrated interest in horticulture or agriculture through at least 1 year of education, job experience, or volunteer work in agriculture, horticulture, gardening, or landscaping.
• Demonstrated interest in working with individuals with disabilities.
• Able to lift 40 pounds.
• Valid NYS driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Engage with clients and identify goals for Urban Farms participants.
• Supervise Assistants and provide hands-on coaching.
• Develop schedules for staff to support participant development.
• Coordinate group workshops with the Director and Manager.
• Support program curricula and supervise activities as appropriate.
• Assist with farmers markets and provide job coaching.
