Job summary

Harboroaks seeks a qualified Therapeutic Recreation professional to plan, direct and implement activity therapy as part of treatment plans. The role includes assessment, program planning and leading sessions to improve patient well-being and independence.

Applicants should have a Bachelor's in Therapeutic Recreation and relevant healthcare recreation experience; a Master’s degree is preferred and CTRS certification is desirable. CPR and safety training are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy or related field required.
• Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete activity assessment through patient observation and patient/family interview to inform treatment plans.
• Plan, organize, direct and implement activities within the treatment program to progress toward treatment goals.
• Plan and implement an activities program including therapeutic leisure skills, education and awareness.
• Facilitate and lead activity sessions to improve patient mental and physical well-being.
• Instruct patients in activities and techniques such as sports, dance, music, art or relaxation.
• Develop treatment plans and implement activity interventions to meet patient needs and interests.
• Engage patients in therapeutic activities, such as exercise, games and community outings.
• Help patients learn social skills needed to become or remain independent.
• Modify activities to suit the needs of specific groups.
• Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude toward customers; address complaints and prioritize patient safety.
• Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
