Job Summary

The Therapeutic Recreation Specialist is responsible for planning, organizing, facilitating, and evaluating programming for residents, tenants, and patients in accordance with regulations, established policies, procedures, and best practices. The role is designed to meet the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual needs of residents and tenants.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organize therapeutic recreation programs.
• Facilitate sessions for residents, tenants, and patients.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of programming.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
• Address social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual needs of participants.

Job Specifications

• Wage: $20.00-$24.00 per hour.
• Hours: On call.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field from an accredited university (preferred).
• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or Activity Director Certified (ADC) (strongly preferred).
• Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Examiner’s certificate and pass random DOT controlled substance test.
• Current CPR certification preferred; if not certified, obtain within 90 days of hire.
• One or more years’ experience working with individuals with dementia (preferred).
• One or more years’ hands‑on experience with seniors (preferred).
• One or more years’ experience planning and facilitating therapeutic recreation programs (preferred).
