Job summary

Nexus Family Healing seeks a dedicated Recreation Therapist to develop and implement therapeutic recreation services for youth residents, enhancing physical, emotional, cognitive, and social abilities. You will work in a structured, homelike setting for boys ages 10–20 and coordinate activities aligned with treatment plans.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed, strengths-based therapy, collaboration with staff, and adherence to safety policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years’ experience in a residential treatment setting with youth.
• Must have valid driver’s license and meet state driving requirements.
• Experience coordinating and implementing recreational activities.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, and implement physical education and leisure activity programs for residents.
• Assess resident needs using tools and input from teams to tailor activities.
• Plan and supervise recreational events supporting treatment goals.
• Model healthy leisure values and social skills in activities.
• Collaborate with staff to integrate trauma-informed approaches into activities.
