Rite of Passage is hiring a Teacher at Childhelp, Alice C. Tyler Village in Lignum, Virginia. Join a team devoted to at‑risk youth and deliver instructional programs in a residential setting.

The role features small class sizes and a Monday–Friday schedule with a starting salary of $58,746 and a $1,000 bonus after successful skills training. Benefits include medical/dental/vision, 401k match, and PTO.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• VA Teaching Credential in Special Education or General Education; credentialing assistance available.
• Knowledge of instructional strategies for at‑risk, high‑school‑aged youth.
• Effective classroom management techniques.
• Ability to establish rapport, diagnose progress, and collaborate with staff.
• Criminal background check, drug screen, physical, and TB test required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement instructional programs for students outside of the public school environment.
• Provide related academic instruction and educational services to students with emotional and behavioral disabilities.
• Manage student behavior, assess and evaluate student achievement, and modify instructional activities for single or multi‑grade level, subject, skill, or specialty orientation.
• Maintain a caseload of students requiring special education services.
• Participate in IEP, ITP, ETP development and team planning meetings, staffing, and Teacher’s meetings, sharing information and opinions.
• Participate in writing either an Education Treatment Plan (ETP) or Individual Education Plan (IEP) and facilitate therapeutic teaching strategies that correspond with the plan.
