Job summary

Childhelp’s Alice C. Tyler Village in Lignum, VA seeks a Teacher to plan and provide instructional programs for students with emotional and behavioral needs in a residential setting.

You will manage behavior, assess progress, and adapt teaching to support individual learners. You’ll participate in IEP/ETP development, case meetings, and team planning, collaborating to deliver a coordinated curriculum and therapeutic teaching strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• VA teaching credential in special education or general education; credentialing assistance provided if not currently certified.
• Knowledge of instructional strategies and how to apply them to teach at-risk youth; understanding diverse learning styles.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement instructional programs for students outside of public school settings.
• Provide academic instruction to students with emotional/behavioral disabilities; manage behavior and assess progress.
• Participate in IEP/ETP/ITP development, team meetings, and staff planning; implement therapeutic teaching strategies.
• Collaborate with staff to deliver consistent curriculum and maintain a safe, supportive environment.
