Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• VA Teaching Credential in Special Education or General Education; credentialing assistance available.
• Knowledge of instructional strategies for at‑risk, high‑school‑aged youth.
• Effective classroom management techniques.
• Ability to establish rapport, diagnose progress, and collaborate with staff.
• Criminal background check, drug screen, physical, and TB test required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement instructional programs for students outside of the public school environment.
• Provide related academic instruction and educational services to students with emotional and behavioral disabilities.
• Manage student behavior, assess and evaluate student achievement, and modify instructional activities for single or multi‑grade level, subject, skill, or specialty orientation.
• Maintain a caseload of students requiring special education services.
• Participate in IEP, ITP, ETP development and team planning meetings, staffing, and Teacher’s meetings, sharing information and opinions.
• Participate in writing either an Education Treatment Plan (ETP) or Individual Education Plan (IEP) and facilitate therapeutic teaching strategies that correspond with the plan.

Childhelp is a psychiatric residential treatment facility specializing in treating children aged 5‑14 with mild to severe trauma or neglect, psychiatric disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Our unique location on a 270‑acre farm provides a nurturing setting with a variety of therapy resources. Employment Details

Starting salary: $58,746, depending on education and experience.

Earn a $1,000 bonus after successful completion of essential skills training within 90 days.

• Pass a criminal background check, drug screen, physical, and TB test.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.
