Qualifications

• Knowledge of therapeutic diets and texture/ modification.
• Knowledge of safe food handling and relevant regulations.
• Understanding of federal, state, and city food codes.
• Familiarity with Kindred Nutrition & Culinary Services policies.
• Skilled in quantity cooking.
• Able to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
• Precise and detail oriented in documentation and records.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn a menu management system.
• Fluent in reading, writing and speaking English.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Zero travel as part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves food following recipes and policies.
• Serves and portions food per planned menus.
• Follows patient diet orders when serving patients.
• Uses standardized menus for patient and cafeteria prep.
• Makes authorized menu changes and records them.
• Uses production sheets to direct prep quantity.
• Prepare food to meet scheduled meal times.
• Serve at proper FDA-compliant temperatures.
• Label food served to patients per policy.
• Receive, store and label food and supplies properly.
• Monitor temperatures and log daily readings.
• Assist in receiving and verifying invoices for food and supplies.
• Maintain adequate stock and report shortages.
• Operate equipment safely and keep area clean.
• Follow safety and sanitation practices and use PPE.
• Manage menu as assigned, including new admissions and tray tickets.
• Collaborate with hospital staff and communicate improvement opportunities.
• Lead kitchen when required by supervisor.
• Participate in Performance Improvement and surveys.
• Contribute to corrective actions as directed.
