Job summary

Illinois School District U-46 is seeking a Theatre: Technical Director at South Elgin High School to support a high-quality theatre program. You will focus on visual and functional aesthetics, working with the Director and Auditorium Manager to design and implement sets, lighting, and sound.

The role involves supervising student crews, coordinating building time, and ensuring safety and instructional alignment.

Qualifications

• Experience in theatre production and technical direction.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to manage and mentor student crews.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with parents, students, administrators, teachers and community leaders.
• Maintain high expectations for student achievement and behavior and motivate students to perform at their best.
• Maintain equipment for the activity and supervise safe use of tools.
• Attend all show performances and ensure timely setup and breakdown.
• Create/build/procure/set pieces and lighting/sound designs with collaborators.
• Schedule building time with the Auditorium Manager and Director.
