Illinois School District U-46 seeks a Musical Theatre: Assistant Director at South Elgin High School to lead a high-quality musical theatre program, focusing on student-centered instruction and collaboration with the Fine Arts department.

Responsibilities include directing rehearsals, coordinating costumes and props, arranging spaces and publicity, supervising volunteers, and managing production finances; 80 hours of rehearsal and attendance at all shows are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Theatre Education preferred.
• Appropriate Professional Educator's License (PEL) preferred.
• High School Diploma with related coursework/experience accepted when applicable.

Responsibilities

• Implement instructional strategies to engage all students and differentiate for abilities.
• Communicate effectively with parents, students, administrators, teachers, and community leaders.
• Maintain high expectations for student achievement and behavior and motivate students to perform at their best.
• Assist Director in stage blocking and show design; supervise costumes and props.
• Arrange rehearsal spaces, publicity, and graphic design needs (programs, posters).
• Manage parent volunteers and production finances; ensure regular attendance and safety.
