Job summary

NEIU is seeking an experienced Production Technician to coordinate live sound, projection, lighting, and stage management for theatre and recital events at the Sasha Gerritson Theatre and Recital Hall. You will supervise student workers and contractors, ensuring smooth on-site operations and adherence to budget and safety guidelines.

The role requires strong leadership, hands-on AV expertise, and the ability to work with NEIU faculty, staff, renters, and external partners to deliver high-quality

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in technical theatre, theatrical design, or AV engineering.
• 2 years of experience managing a team.
• Knowledge of video recording, livestreaming, and video editing.
• Experience managing rental events.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, Google suite, and email correspondence.
• Understanding of event related software, including QLab, CAD and/or Vectorworks.

Responsibilities

• Oversee live sound engineering, projection, lighting, and stage management for events.
• Supervise student workers, freelancers, and contractors within budget constraints.
• Assist with advancing event needs and pre-production for NEIU venues.
• Maintain equipment, inventory records, and technical venue documentation.
• Coordinate venue calendars and reporting for invoicing and operations.
• Serve as liaison to faculty, staff, rental clients, and emergency services during events.
