Job summary

Goodman Theatre in Chicago, IL seeks a House Manager to supervise Front of House operations during performances and events. You will serve as the main public contact for patrons, staff, and visitors, managing shifts for bartenders, gift store staff, coat check, and other FOH roles.

This part-time, hourly position requires availability for afternoons, evenings, weekends, and special event schedules, with some Thanksgiving/Christmas contingencies. Training in safety and guest services is included.

Qualifications

• Two years of customer service experience; supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team.
• CPR/First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain).
• Bass et Certification required (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Serve as the main representative for the Front of House Department and Goodman Theatre at all assigned performances and events, offering superb customer service to all who enter the building.
• Supervise and support the Front of House staff for assigned performances, internal/external rentals and other special events.
• Ensure cleanliness and timely maintenance of all Front of House areas prior to patron arrival times, as well as at the end of each performance shift.
• Maintain the supply of programs, handouts, and marketing materials for patrons and visitors as designated by FOH.
• Oversee daily distribution/reconciliation of cash banks (bars and gift store) and record-keeping of credit card tips for Front of House staff.
• Ensure that Goodman patrons have a superior experience at the theatre.
• Assist with routine inventory tracking for the Goodman Theatre.
• Perform other Front of House and Event support roles as assigned to support the overall FOH operation.
