Job summary

Rutgers University-Camden is seeking a Theater Technician Coordinator to oversee lighting, sound, set design and construction for Gordon and Black Box theatres. Working under the VMPA Technical Supervisor, you will support productions and events, staff theater spaces, manage schedules, and ensure safe operation of production areas.

The role requires at least two years in scenic construction or related theater arts, with preferred Associates or Bachelor's degree in Theatre.

Qualifications

• Requires high school/vocational education plus two years' experience in scenic construction, rigging, tool maintenance and repair or equivalent background in scenic construction and theater arts.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, or off-hours with advance notice to support theatre activities.
• Preferred: Associates or Bachelor's degree in Theatre.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all technical functions of the Gordon and Black Box theatres, including sound, lighting, set design and construction.
• Support the Technical Supervisor in the use and maintenance of the theatre and other campus facilities for events and productions.
• Staff and supervise theatre staff and volunteers; coordinate use of facilities for internal and external users.
• Plan for and supervise maintenance of the Gordon Theatre and Black Box Studio; ensure safety rules and protocols are understood and followed.
