Job summary

Pace University is seeking a full-time House Technician to plan, organize, and provide technical and clerical support for the Schimmel Theater. Responsibilities include operating sound, lighting and multimedia equipment, setting up furniture and sets, and maintaining rigging systems.

The role requires an undergraduate theatre degree and 3–5 years of production experience, with ETCP rigging certification preferred and a union environment noted.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Theatre is required.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of professional production experience.
• ETCP rigging certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate sound, lighting and multimedia equipment for performances and events in Schimmel Theater.
• Set up furniture and sets for performances and events in Schimmel Theater.
• Operate and assist in the maintenance of the theatrical rigging systems and equipment.
• Create and maintain all necessary paperwork and documentation in relation to the sound, lighting and multimedia equipment
• Liaise with relevant departments and individuals to ensure support is anticipated and provided.
• Provide technical and creative support for all users of the theater.
• Assist during production weeks to ensure rehearsals and production meetings run smoothly.
• Provide first-line maintenance support for all relevant technical equipment, machines, furniture, fixtures and fittings.
• Ensure all equipment is stored safely and is accessible to others when absent.
• Maintain an inventory of all equipment and materials held and used.
• Liaise with IT staff about software requirements and system support.
• Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.
