Job summary

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) is seeking a Theater Technician Specialist/Client Coordinator to provide first-line on-site technical support for the Loudoun campus theater and event center for outside events.

Duties include preparing spaces, operating audio/visual equipment during events, post-show cleanup, and maintaining equipment; flexible evenings and weekend work are required. The role requires knowledge of theater equipment, safety, and strong customer service.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of theater terminology, design principles and practices, theater equipment/supplies.
  • Knowledge of Electronic and audio principles used in theater productions.
  • Knowledge of safety requirements for personnel and equipment.
  • Ability to trouble shoot and perform routine maintenance of theater production equipment.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills required.
  • Experience in stage or event production, to include stage rigging, lighting console programming, sound mixing, Audio/Video and computer technology.
  • Experience in operating the audio and visual equipment.
  • Experience working in an event center environment
  • Experience in theater equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends.

Job Description

General Description:
This position provides first-line on-site technical support for the Loudoun campus theater and event center for the outside events as needed.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

KSAs:

  • Experience with theatrical lighting systems, including digital lighting consoles, ability to hang and focus stage lights, circuiting and cabling lighting instruments.
