Description of Service Opportunity:
Cambridge Public Schools is seeking a pool of skilled and experienced, part-time, “as needed” technical theater professionals to support the running of the new and recently renovated school theaters in the city. The selected Technical Specialist will be responsible for attending to the year-round rental needs and uses of the CPS recently renovated and newly built school theaters.
Requirements:
This work includes overseeing all technical aspects of the theater while in use by CPSD, the City of Cambridge and outside renters. The Technical Specialist (TS) is to ensure proper use and care of CPS equipment and the facility by preparing the space for the arrival of the user, assisting with the operation of theatrical lighting and sound, advising staging, and possible stagecraft development. The TS should be very familiar with the Eos family of lighting control, the Soundcraft Digital series of sound control, basic microphone and speaker placement and use, as well as good working knowledge of computers (pc/mac) and projectors. The TS acts as a representative of the CPS and should have excellent communication and customer service skills as well as the ability to work with young learners and community members.

July 15, 2026 through June 30, 2027

Not exceed $7000.00
Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a non-exemptemployee and have worked more than 40 hours a week, you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours
