Job summary

Cambridge Public Schools is seeking part-time, on-call Theater Technical Specialists to support the operation of its renovated school theaters. You will handle year-round rental needs, ensure proper use of CPS equipment, and assist with lighting, sound, and projection during performances and events.

The role emphasizes strong communication with CPSD, the City of Cambridge, and external renters, plus the ability to work with students and community members. Training on equipment will be provided.

Qualifications

• Experience handling theater lighting and sound for year-round venue use.
• Familiarity with EOS lighting control and Soundcraft Digital mixers.
• Ability to set up space for performers and renters including mic/speaker placement.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all technical theater aspects when the theater is in use by CPSD, City of Cambridge, and renters.
• Prepare spaces, operate lighting and sound systems, and advise on staging and stagecraft.
• Communicate effectively with CPS, staff, and community users to ensure smooth events.
