Job summary

Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, NV is seeking an experienced bartender to deliver professional beverage service to guests and cocktail staff with a friendly, timely approach. You will input orders in the POS system, manage checks, and handle transactions accurately while keeping the bar clean and well stocked.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide proper beverage service to guests and staff in a friendly, timely manner.
  • Input and ring-up charges for guest orders using the POS system; create checks and handle cash.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of guest areas and equipment at all times.
  • Set up the bar daily before, during, and after shifts; refill ice, beer bins, and cleaning supplies.
  • Answer guest inquiries, relay information about hotel services and local attractions to ensure satisfaction.
  • Maintain ongoing contact with guests to deliver optimal service; perform any other duties as assigned.

Job description

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Prepare and provide proper and professional beverage service to all guests and cocktail staff in a friendly, courteous and timely manner.
  • Input and ring-up charges for guest’s orders using the POS system. Create a check for each transaction, make and return any change as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of guest areas and equipment at all times including removing empty glasses/bottles, cleaning ashtrays, empting garbage, sweeping/mopping floors, scrubbing/sanitizing equipment, etc.
  • Maintain proper and adequate set-up of bar on a daily basis including, before, after, and during shift. Refill chemicals, hand soap containers, etc. Refill ice and beer bins, utilizing ice making machines.
  • Listen and respond to guest inquiries using a positive, clear speaking voice. Answer questions and offer assistance to provide guest satisfaction. Relay accurate information to guests regarding hours of operation, Hotel services, directions to local attractions or function rooms, car rentals, airline shuttle service, etc.
  • Make constant contact with both internal and external guests to provide optimal guest service.
  • Any other duties as assigned within the scope of this position.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Knowledge of POS systems.
  • Experience in nightclub, bar and lounge operations.
  • Experience with liquor, beer, wine and bottle service menu; Knowledge of drink recipes.
  • Ability of simple reading, writing, math, and task completion skills is required.
  • Must have the following skills: coordination, following instructions, memorization, problem solving, independent judgment, and decision making.
  • Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum one year experience as a bartender or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
  • Must be able to maintain appropriate Gaming License & Alcohol Awareness card.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is constantly standing, walking, reaching overhead, bending over, and occasionally crouching during the duration of their shift.
  • Must be able to push/pull and lift/carry 50lbs or less frequently.
  • The team member will constantly have repetitive use of both feet. Team member will constantly have repetitive use of their dominant hand, occasional use of their non-dominant hand, and frequent light grasping motions. Team member will have occasional use of firm/strong grasping motion. Finger dexterity of both hands will be frequently required.
  • Constant use of vision abilities is required including distance, depth perception, field of vision, and color vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Work performed outdoors, alone and frequently with and around others. Team Member will perform work face-to-face including verbal contact with others on extended shifts in possible confined areas around computer equipment and other mechanical devices.
  • Team Member may be around flame/heat generated devices.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Team Member may be exposed to extreme heat/cold, wet and/or humid conditions, vibrations, slippery surfaces, dirt/dust, odor and/or secondhand smoke.
