Job summary

Grand Sierra Resort in Reno is seeking an energetic cocktail server to provide friendly, timely service and ensure guest satisfaction. You will promote premium brands, pass orders to the bartender, garnish drinks, and maintain a clean bar area throughout shifts.

The role requires strong guest interaction, excellent communication, and flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays. Must be 21+ with Alcohol Awareness card.

Qualifications

  • Must have good guest interaction and service skills.
  • Able to perform simple reading, writing, and math tasks.
  • Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekends.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • One year of cocktail server or restaurant server experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional cocktail service to guests in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner.
  • Promote and document drink orders, garnish, and pass orders to Bartender.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of guest areas and equipment.
  • Set up bar properly before, during, and after shifts.
  • Respond to guest inquiries with a positive and clear voice.
  • Interact professionally with teammates and guests.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide proper and professional cocktail service to all guests in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner resulting in guest satisfaction.
  • Promote and document orders for drinks, reciting selections of all “call”, and “premium” brands as requested, pass on order to Bartender, properly garnish and deliver to guest in a timely manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of guest areas and equipment at all times including removing empty glasses/bottles, cleaning ashtrays, emptying garbage, sweeping/mopping floors, scrubbing/sanitizing equipment, etc.
  • Maintain proper and adequate set-up of bar on a daily basis, before, after and during shift.
  • Listen and respond to guest inquiries using a positive, clear speaking voice.
  • Interact with co-workers and guests in a professional and polite manner.
  • Any other duties as assigned within the scope of this position.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Provide friendly and personal interaction with guests.
  • Enthusiastically support, actively promote and demonstrate superior guest service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.
  • Aware of all property events and activities and utilize effective communication tools to ensure that consistent, accurate and timely information is provided through the company and to potential guests.
  • Ability of simple reading, writing, and complex math, and task completion skills is required.
  • Must have the following skills: compiling, coordination, analyzing, following instructions, influencing others, memorization, problem solving, independent judgment, and decision making.
  • Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum one year experience as a cocktail server or restaurant server experience or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
  • Must be able to maintain appropriate Alcohol Awareness card.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is constantly standing, walking, reaching overhead, bending over, crouching, kneeling, and balancing during the duration of their shift.
  • Must be able to lift/carry 10lbs or less frequently and 25lbs or less occasionally.
  • The team member will constantly have repetitive use of both feet. Team member will constantly have repetitive use of their dominant hand, occasional use of their non-dominant hand, and constant light grasping motions. Team member will have occasional use of firm/strong grasping motion. Finger dexterity of both hands will be frequently required.
  • Constant use of vision abilities is required including distance, depth perception, field of vision, and color vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Work performed indoors, alone and frequently with and around others. Team Member will perform work face-to-face including verbal contact with others on extended shifts in possible confined areas around computer equipment.
  • Team Member may be around flame/heat generated devices.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Team Member may be exposed to vibrations, slippery surfaces, odor and/or secondhand smoke.
