Job summary

Town of Abingdon is seeking a dedicated staff member to assist with the Meadows Sports Complex operations and events. The role focuses on customer service, facility cleanliness, safety, and readiness for use across Meadows and Latture Fields.

The position involves a full-time schedule of 10-hour shifts Tue–Fri with possible evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on events and needs. A Virginia driver’s license and background checks are required.

Job description

Position Description:

Assists with the daily operation, maintenance, and activities of the Meadows Sports Complex. This position provides customer service to visitors, teams, coaches, tournament organizers, and the general public while helping ensure that facilities, athletic fields, concessions, and event areas are clean, safe, organized, and ready for use.

This is a full-time position primarily consisting of 10-hour shifts, Tuesday through Friday. The regular work schedule may be adjusted based on athletic events, tournaments, facility activities, seasonal demands, and operational needs. The position may occasionally require work outside the normal Tuesday through Friday schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

The employee will primarily work at the Meadows Sports Complex and Latture Fields. Depending on seasonal activities and operational needs, the employee may provide support to other Town departments and facilities.

Education, Experience and Licenses:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in parks and recreation, athletic facility operations, event coordination, grounds maintenance, customer service, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience working with the public in a customer service or recreational environment preferred.
• Experience with athletic facilities, tournaments, recreational programming, concessions, facility rentals, or event operations preferred.
• Must possess a valid Virginia driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
