Job summary

Texas A&M Forest Service in College Station is seeking a TFS Dispatch Supervisor to lead the dispatch function, supervise staff, and ensure high-quality emergency response and regulatory compliance. The role requires four years of experience with a fire or emergency response agency, and strong skills in leadership, communication, and data interpretation.

Education: Associate's degree required; Bachelor's preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Emergency Management, Fire Administration, Business Admin, Science or related field.
  • Minimum four years of experience with a fire or emergency response agency.
  • Preferred supervisory experience in a fire or emergency response agency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to the dispatch team and ensure service excellence.
  • Develop staffing plans, train staff, and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee budgets, inventory, and grant reporting.
  • Coordinate with ESF4 leadership to improve systems.
  • Complete administrative duties including safety and compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

The Dis pa t ch S upe rvisor provides leadership to assigned dis pa t ch function area . Supervises assigned dis pa t ch function area, including but not limited to: training, quality assurance/quality improvement, compliance, data interpretation and strategic planning . Works in coordination with other dis pa t ch s upe rvisor s to provide high quality services.

Responsibilities:
  • -Provides leadership and direction to assigned team . Develop and maintain excellence in delivery of assigned dis pa t ch area . Serve as subject matter expert for assigned area . Participate in emergency response by providing oversight to assigned dis pa t ch area(s) and ensure seamless integration. Ensure agency remains in compliance with all st ate and federal regulations with assigned dis pa t ch area. Emergency response is an essential duty of this position.
  • -Provides oversight and leadership of assigned staff . Work with staff on employee development opportunities . Build and maintain depth in positions . Utilize non-assigned staff for response functions when possible to build knowledge . Analzye and provide staffing for expected demand. Establish and model a service-oriented culture that supports the organizational values.
  • -Ensure budgets and inventory are properly managed. Collaborate with others to ensure grant goals and objectives are completed. Ensure grant money is properly used and reported on . Ensure the maintenance and proper operation of dis pa t ch s pace, systems and equipment.
  • -Work closely with Deputy Chief ESF4 Statewide Dis pa t ch and Dis pa t ch Coordinator to improve systems.
  • -Ensure all administrative duties are completed properly, such as environmental health and safety, credit card compliance, fuel logs and related duties.
  • -Other duties as assigned.
Emergency response may require:
  • working long hours with minimal rest in primitive conditions. exposure to harsh environmental conditions such as wind, sunlight, rain and temperature extremes. May result in exposure to emotionally stressful situations for extended periods of time . Must meet annual physical fitness standard .
  • May require walking long dis tances, standing for extended periods, twisting, bending, reaching stooping, kneeling , squatting and sitting . May require extended communication with visitors and employees in person, electronically or by phone. May require driving motor vehicles for long dis tances with some overnight stays. May require operating computers with monitors for extended periods of time.
This is a security-sensitive position.

The individual in this position is required to handle Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined by HIPAA regulations. The individual is required to handle PHI in accordance with A&M System's policy and is further required to complete HIPAA training as a condition of employment, within a reasonable time-frame after the individual's employment and on an as-needed basis thereafter.

Education and Experience:
  • Required Education: Associate's degree in E mergency M anagement , Fire Administration, Business Administration, Science or related field . A combination of education and/or experience can be substituted for a degree .
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management , Fire Administration, Business Administration, Science or related field.
  • Required Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of experience with a fire or emergency response agency.
  • Preferred Experience: Supervisory experience with a fire or emergency response agency.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Required Knowledge: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Required Skills: Sound judgement. Great attention to detail . Strong interpersonal skills . Strong communication and organizational skills . Strong typing skills.
  • Required Abilities: Ability to lead others . Ability to work long hours in times of need . Multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:
  • Required: Valid Texas driver's license or ability to acquire on e within 30 days of employment . NIMS 100, 200, 700 and 800.
  • Preferred: NWCG Qualifications in assigned dis pa t ch function area (IADP, ACDP, EDSP).
