Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina is seeking a Textile Grader / Machine Operator who processes donated textiles and other materials for sorting, grading, reuse, and recycling. The role involves operating sorting equipment, recording production data, and maintaining a clean, safe work area.

You may perform table sorting, conveyor sorting, machine-assisted sorting, and related material recovery tasks, with emphasis on accuracy, safety, and teamwork in a busy environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Must have basic math skills and be able to use a calculator to add and subtract numbers.
• Ability to stay focused while completing repetitive tasks accurately.

Responsibilities

• Sort and grade donated textiles and other assigned materials by quality, condition, and category.
• Meet daily production goals as assigned by leadership.
• Learn and perform table sorting, conveyor sorting, machine-assisted sorting, and related material recovery processes.
• Record required production information, including Gaylord weights, cart categories, starting weights, and ending weights.
• Identify and remove contaminants, trash, ungradable product, and non-qualifying items; route materials to the correct area as directed.
