Job summary

GOODWILL OF CENTRAL FLORIDA is seeking a Textile Grader to assess donated textiles by brand and quality using our good, better, best grading system. The role emphasizes keeping the work area clean, neat, and safe, and requires a well-groomed appearance with a name badge.

Training and routine in-service sessions are provided. Candidates should have experience in retail or stock handling, be able to stand for long periods, and demonstrate basic math and computer skills.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to learn grading procedures and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Grade donated textiles based on brand and quality using Goodwill's grading process.
  • Keep production area clean, neat, and safe.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and wear name badge.
  • Assist with textile processing per procedure and participate in training.
  • Perform duties within the organization's Core Principles.

SUMMARYUnder the direction of the Team Leader and Production Team Leader, the Textile Grader is responsible for grading donated textiles based on brand and quality using Goodwills good, better, and best grading process. In addition, the Textile Grader must maintain the production area by keeping workstation clean, neat, and in a safe condition.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIESGrade donated textile based on brand and quality using Goodwills good, better, and best grading process.Keep production area clean, neat, and safe.Maintain well-groomed appearance and appropriate dress code including name badge.ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIESAssist in Textile and Miscel power hour process per established procedure.Responsible for performing their assigned duties within the framework of our Core Principles.Attend in-service and related training as assigned by Team Leader.Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Leader and Production Team Leader.QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIESThe list below is representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability utilized while performing this job.Ability to adhere to the organizations Core Principles.Knowledge of retail and/or stock handling.Ability to react calmly and react to emergency situations.Ability to listen and following directions.Ability to stand for long periods of time.Knowledge of shoe brands and current trends.Education and/or Experience:Previous retail and/or stock handling experience is preferred.Math Ability:Level 1: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.Computer Skills:To perform this job successfully, an individual should have beginner knowledge ofSupervisory Responsibilities:This position has no supervisory responsibilities.Purchasing Authority:No Purchasing AuthoritySPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT(e.g. physical or environmental requirements, irregular work schedule, required license or certification, background check)Physical and Environmental Requirements:Regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.Vision abilities required by this job include: close, distance, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.Standing and walking for long periods of time.Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, push and pull.Sufficient mobility to turn from side to side and the ability to lean and remove items from containers.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).Language Ability:Level 2: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.Reasoning Ability:Level 2: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
