Job summary

GlobalFoundries in Vermont is seeking a Testsite Design and Development engineer to design, develop, and utilize in-house test chips and test structures to characterize semiconductor technologies and accelerate customer design enablement.

You will collaborate with technology development, design enablement, product, test, and manufacturing teams to translate characterization needs into testsite requirements and silicon implementations, plan and execute electrical testing, and communicate results

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or related field.
• Experience in semiconductor IC or test-chip design and tech development.
• Knowledge of semiconductor devices, IC design/layout, electrical characterization, and silicon data interpretation.
• Experience with schematic capture, layout, DRC/LVS, extraction, simulation, or design-to-mask release.
• Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and translate results into improvements.
• Fluency in English (written and verbal).

Responsibilities

• Design in-house test chips, testsites, and test structures for characterization.
• Define chip- and device-level structures to enable measurements and learning.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to derive testsite requirements.
• Evaluate designs through design-to-mask readiness and layout checks.
• Plan and execute electrical characterization of fabricated test chips.
• Analyze silicon data to identify trends and gaps.
• Iterate designs to improve learning and maturity.
• Document architecture and communicate findings to stakeholders.
