Job description

The Test Technician II performs beginner- to intermediate level product testing, qualification, and analytical activities that ensure product performance, reliability, and safety prior to retail release. This role executes structured test procedures, conducts functional and durability testing, and performs detailed inspections of internal product components to identify quality or performance issues. Operating semi independently, the Test Technician II troubleshoots specialized test equipment and fixtures, applies intermediate technical judgment, and supports resolution of complex product issues.

The position contributes technical insight across product development teams by preparing samples, collecting accurate test data, and producing clear, well documented test results. With a growing depth of product and tool knowledge, the Test Technician II assists in improving test methods, evaluating product construction and performance, and recommending enhancements when appropriate.

The role upholds strict safety, confidentiality, and laboratory standards while maintaining an organized, well functioning lab environment. The Test Technician III is expected to manage assigned work responsibly, collaborate effectively with QA Engineering and cross functional partners, and support field assignments as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • 1. Testing & Qualification
    • Perform product qualification and testing. (Beginner level).
    • Assist with equipment setup, monitoring, and testing.
    • Operate test fixtures according to testing instructions.
    • Work with specialized testing equipment. (As Required)
  • 2. Reporting, Analysis & Documentation
    • Support product review meetings by preparing samples, organizing documentation, and conducting setup/cleanup.
    • Ensure all required documentation and materials are gathered prior to testing.
    • Record and document test results (Beginner Level)
    • Prepare accurate technical reports with supporting documentation (Beginner Level)
  • 3. Technical Knowledge & Skills
  • Provide technical expertise and interact with QA Engineering (As Required)
    • Operate and troubleshoot lab equipment (Beginner level)
    • Safely operate and test tools according to proper usage guidelines.
    • Disassemble tools to evaluate internal components and build quality. (Beginner level)
    • Understand tool specifications and evaluate performance. (Beginner level)
    • Identify the appropriate tool for job-specific requirements. (Beginner level)
    • Recommend features and materials related to tool design. (Beginner level)
  • 4. General Work Expectations

The anticipated rate for this position is $26.00 per hour depending on location, knowledge, skills, education and experience.

  • Associates can accrue paid sick time up to 64 hours per year unless otherwise required by law.
  • The Company observes 100 hours of paid holiday time.

  • Familiarity with the following:
    • Working as a contractor, construction, carpenter, plumber, welder and auto mechanic and utilizes the corresponding tools with intermediate knowledge
    • Report writing computer skills in and Excel, web search, and e-mail
    • Testing, repairing, or professional trade work with consumer tools and equipment
    • Automotive - Preferred experience with automotive repair, diagnostics, maintaining shop equipment,
    • Electrical - Preferred experience working with electronics and knowledge of circuitry. Electrical systems, AC/DC, small electric motors.
    • Construction - Preferred jobsite experience/trade level experience

    • Experience with one of the major testing such as UL, CSA, Intertec, TUV, etc.
    • Hands-on fabrication experience i.e. mill, lathe, welding, etc.
