Job summary

The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking a Testing Services Specialist – Student Accessibility Resources in Allendale, MI (Pew Campus). This part-time role supports exam coordination and student/faculty testing services with emphasis on confidentiality and accuracy.

Responsibilities include coordinating exam requests, preparing testing environments, and proctoring while maintaining secure records and providing clear student/faculty support.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Review, process, and manage incoming exam requests submitted by students, faculty, and campus partners.
  • Verify exam details, testing requirements, accommodations, and deadlines to ensure accurate exam administration.
  • Coordinate with faculty and instructors to obtain exams, instructions, passwords, and other required testing materials.
  • Prepare exams and testing environments according to faculty instructions and Testing Center procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records related to testing appointments, completed exams, and exam materials.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of testing materials and student information.
  • Proctor exams in accordance with established Testing Center policies and procedures.
  • Monitor testing environments to promote academic integrity and a secure assessment experience.
  • Enforce testing policies consistently and professionally.
  • Document and report testing irregularities or concerns following established procedures.
  • Assist with both paper-based and computer-based testing processes.
  • Utilize testing-related technology and systems to support exam administration.
  • Monitor and assist with testing software and tools used for secure exam delivery and oversight.
  • Troubleshoot basic technology issues and escalation concerns when needed.
  • Assist with maintaining an organized, efficient, and welcoming testing environment.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when working with students, faculty, and sensitive academic materials.

Compensation: $20.00 per hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Testing Coordination & Administration
  • Review, process, and manage incoming exam requests submitted by students, faculty, and campus partners.
  • Verify exam details, testing requirements, accommodations, and deadlines to ensure accurate exam administration.
  • Coordinate with faculty and instructors to obtain exams, instructions, passwords, and other required testing materials.
  • Prepare exams and testing environments according to faculty instructions and Testing Center procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records related to testing appointments, completed exams, and exam materials.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of testing materials and student information.
Student & Faculty Support
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for student and faculty inquiries related to testing services.
  • Respond to emails and requests in a timely, professional manner.
  • Provide clear instructions and support to students before, during, and after testing sessions.
  • Assist students with questions related to Testing Center procedures and expectations.
  • Communicate with faculty regarding exam status, completion, and any testing concerns.
Proctoring & Testing Integrity
  • Proctor exams in accordance with established Testing Center policies and procedures.
  • Monitor testing environments to promote academic integrity and a secure assessment experience.
  • Enforce testing policies consistently and professionally.
  • Document and report testing irregularities or concerns following established procedures.

Technology & Operations Support

General Responsibilities
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when working with students, faculty, and sensitive academic materials.
  • Follow institutional policies, accessibility requirements, and Testing Center procedures.
  • Participate in training and ongoing development related to testing processes and technology.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Work Environment

This position works in a student-facing testing environment and requires frequent interaction with students, faculty, and staff. The role requires attention to detail, the ability to remain focused during testing sessions, and the ability to manage periods of high activity.
