Job summary

TRC, a global environmental and engineering firm and part of WSP, seeks a skilled Technician to support Transmission and Distribution substation operations in Dallas. This role ensures system reliability, safety, and adherence to standards.

The position involves testing and maintenance of relaying, control systems, and voltage regulation equipment, plus documentation and troubleshooting to keep substations running smoothly. A BET or AET is expected.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing and repairing substation relaying and control schemes.
• Knowledge of 3-phase power systems, power system protection & control schemes, test equipment, and test equipment software.
• Skills in test equipment and tool/wiring usage, interpretation of wiring and elementary diagrams, basic test skills, and basic PC skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct testing and routine maintenance of substation relaying (electro-mechanical, solid state, and microprocessor types), control systems, and voltage regulation equipment.
• Calibrate protective relays and apply relay settings according to standards and operational requirements.
• Program Load Tap Changing (LTC) and voltage regulator controllers.
• Perform troubleshooting and repairs on substation relays and control devices within distribution substations.
• Plan and execute testing activities efficiently, adhering to schedules while ensuring service continuity.
• Maintain accurate documentation of testing procedures, results, and equipment configurations.

Overview

TRC is seeking a skilled and motivated Technician to support our Transmission and Distribution substation operations.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring system reliability, safety, and compliance with operational standards.

• Education: Bachelor of Electrical Technology (BET) or Associate of Electrical Technology (AET).
• Experience in SCADA, Fault Data, Sequence of Events Recorder (SER), and Integration-Automation equipment installation and testing.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation:Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
