Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. in Lancaster, PA is seeking a Testing & Commissioning Intern for Summer 2027. The paid internship runs June through August 2027 (flexible) under project managers and engineers' supervision.

You will test protective relays for substations, learn testing procedures, and develop skills in electrical fundamentals, with potential to transition to a full-time role after graduation. Must be pursuing a bachelor's in EE/EE tech from ABET, GPA 3.0+, travel-ready, and possess a valid

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology from an ABET accredited program.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Possesses solid technical and problem-solving skills.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
• Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to client sites.

Responsibilities

• Testing and Commissioning of protective relays for electrical transmission & distribution substations.
• Works under supervision of Experienced TRC staff to test and verify substation protection & control system functionality.
• Become familiar with various types of test equipment.
• Become familiar with testing & commissioning processes and procedures
• Read and interpret design drawings to understand engineering design and confirm intent.
• Must have strong electrical fundamental understanding.

TRC is seeking highly motivated and diverse Testing & Commissioning Internfor our Summer 2027 intern program out of our Lancaster, PA Office. This is a paid full-time position. Anticipated duration will be from June through August 2027 (flexible). This position has the potential to transition into a Full-Time role upon graduation. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders and partner with engineers, scientists, and technologists.

Responsibilities

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Pursuing a bachelor's in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology from an ABET accredited program.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Has excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Possesses solid technical and problem‑solving skills.
• Self‑motivated, detail orientated person.
• Must pass pre‑employment drug screen and criminal background check.
• Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to client sites.
• Willing to work overtime and travel out of town weekly.
• Ability to lift at least 30 lbs.
• Applicants for this intern role must possess a clean driving record.

Compensation

In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation

Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
